RatesAngel is not a government service. You can use the first Health Check without payment or card details, and no paid work is authorised unless you agree to it separately. RatesAngel helps business owners understand their business rates position, identify whether anything appears worth checking and decide what, if anything, to do next. We start with a free Health Check. Depending on the result, RatesAngel may say that no action is currently indicated, show a free official route, offer monitoring, or explain optional fixed fee assistance.

No. RatesAngel is designed to assess the position before recommending action. We do not assume that every business has a claim and we do not automatically recommend an appeal. A valid RatesAngel result can simply be that nothing currently indicates a need for paid help.

We believe business owners should be able to understand their basic position before deciding whether to pay anyone. The free Health Check helps establish the property facts, highlights anything that may deserve attention and explains the next sensible step. There is no obligation to buy another RatesAngel service.

That is a valid outcome. If nothing currently indicates that action is required, we will say so. You can keep the result, choose to do nothing or, where available, activate monitoring so RatesAngel can help keep an eye on relevant future changes.

Because sometimes the sensible answer is that you can deal with something yourself. Councils and the VOA provide free routes for a number of business rates matters. Where one appears appropriate and manageable, RatesAngel should show it rather than hide it behind a fee.

RatesAngel offers optional paid services when a business wants additional help. Current planned services include property monitoring and fixed fee assistance with suitable administrative applications. Pricing is published clearly so you can decide whether the service represents value before instructing us.

For standard application assistance, RatesAngel prefers transparent fixed pricing rather than taking a percentage of a routine council side saving or refund. A larger potential benefit should not automatically mean a larger RatesAngel fee.

Where a matter is suitable, RatesAngel can prepare an Application Ready Pack for a fixed £99 fee. The purpose is to organise the relevant information and supporting material so that you can submit the application through the appropriate official route. The precise scope will be confirmed before any payment is taken.

For suitable matters, the intended standard structure is a £49 Engagement Fee, followed by a further £200 only after the defined successful outcome. Before you instruct us, a Service Summary will explain the scope, the free alternative, the successful outcome definition, the maximum fee and the information we need from you.

No. Business rates depend on the facts of the property, the applicable rules and decisions made by the relevant authority. RatesAngel does not guarantee savings, refunds, relief or successful applications. We would rather give a business owner an accurate answer than manufacture an opportunity where one does not exist.

No. RatesAngel is an independent service operated by Maivero Limited. We are not the VOA, HMRC, a local authority or a government service. Where official information or free official services are relevant, we identify them clearly.

Not to use the free Health Check, ordinary monitoring or general RatesAngel information services. Completing the Health Check does not appoint RatesAngel as your rating agent. If a future service requires formal authority or professional representation, that will be explained separately before you proceed.

The Health Check starts with the property and the basic facts that affect the assessment. You do not need to provide a large amount of personal information before seeing the initial finding. If you choose to save the result, activate monitoring or use another service, we may then ask for the additional information needed for that service.

Not necessarily for the first Health Check. If you have the bill available it can improve the quality of the assessment. If you do not have it with you, you can still start and provide it later where necessary.

That is not a problem. RatesAngel focuses on the property and your current occupation circumstances. We may ask when you became the occupier because a recent change of occupier can be relevant to the bill and relief position.

Business names and occupiers can change. RatesAngel separates the property record from the business currently using it. Where historic information appears, we may ask you to confirm that you are the current occupier rather than assuming the old details still apply.

RatesAngel Watch is designed to help businesses keep track of relevant changes affecting a saved property. Depending on the information available, this may include rating assessment changes, rateable value changes, multiplier or relief changes and an annual review. Watch does not guarantee that every possible council, VOA or property event can be detected automatically.

Qualifying businesses in Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Crewe, Alderley Edge and Bramhall can request 12 months of RatesAngel Watch free after completing a genuine Health Check and providing contact and activation information. RatesAngel must first confirm coverage, eligibility and a start date in writing. The normal annual price is £89. No card is required. Requests are checked before monitoring is activated, and there is no automatic paid renewal.

RatesAngel uses the information you provide to deliver the service you request, such as the Health Check, saved result, monitoring or application assistance. Our Privacy Notice explains the purposes, lawful bases, retention and your rights. Service communications and optional marketing are treated separately.

Yes. That is one of the principles behind the service. If the evidence suggests that no paid action is necessary, or that an appropriate free official route is available, RatesAngel should tell you that clearly.
